Sector allocation labels

The following labels are used to denote a sector.

Energy
Power plants, Refineries and Other combustion in energy industry

Residential combustion
Heating and cooking

Industry
Iron and steel industry, Chemical industry, Paper and pulp industry, Cement production, Storage and handling, etc

Fuel production and distribution
Coal, oil and gas production; gas distribution and flaring

Solvent use
Industrial, domestic and constructional solvent use

Light_road_traffic
Passenger cars, motorcycles and mopeds (exhaust and wear emissions)

Heavy_road_traffic
Heavy duty transport vehicles (exhaust and wear emissions)

Non_road_traffic
Aviation, rail, inland shipping, Mobile machinery

Waste
Waste incineration, Landfills, BBQ and tobacco

Agriculture
Animal husbandry, manure and fertilizer application, agricultural stationary combustion

Natural
Natural origin, e.g. sea salt, mineral dust, NOx emissions from soils, and forest fires.

Boundary
Origin outside the model domain (i.e. other continents), includes a large contribution of desert dust for southern Europe.

REST
Source categories with less than 10% relative contribution to the total modelled mass are combined under this label.

Origin labels

For each sector two different origins could distinguished if selected:

local
Local emissions are emissions that originate from the model grid cell. The modelled area that corresponds with a grid cell is 25 x 25 km.

non_local
Non-local emissions are emissions that leave the grid cell of their origin.
